Hall County Implements New 9-1-1 Dispatch Technology to Deliver Better Emergency Response

SAN DIEGO, CA (June 27, 2017)—Hall County, Georgia Department of Public Safety implemented a new Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system on June 20, 2017. The new system, which was funded through the SPLOST-VII tax approved for upgrades to the county infrastructure, will bring tangible improvements to citizen safety, including Automated Abandoned Call Processing and Caller Location Query.
- TriTech Software Systems, the Inform CAD provider, worked with numerous county employees to implement the new system across multiple public agencies. The agencies included Hall County Fire, Hall County Sheriff’s Office, Gainesville Fire, Gainesville Police Department, Hall County Animal Control, as well as the cities of Flowery Branch and Oakwood which utilize Hall County 911 / Central Communications to dispatch their 9-1-1, Fire, and EMS services.
- Together these agencies cover 429 square miles to provide public safety service in the community. The new Inform CAD system, which also includes 425 Mobile licenses, will bring the latest technological advantages to the dispatch center and field personnel for better community safety.
- Automated Abandoned Call Processing provides call centers with the ability to automate abandoned call processing through Short Message Service (SMS), or text messaging, for wireless callers. With abandoned call volumes increasing due to the rise of cell phones and pocket dialing, along with the widespread use of texting as a regular communication, this new technology allows to dispatchers to clear the abandoned call queue more quickly and direct their attention in managing true 9-1-1 emergency calls.
- Caller Location Query (CLQ) provides emergency center dispatchers the ability to send smartphone callers a link via a text message which when opened will send their GPS coordinates to the dispatcher so that their location can be easily identified by the emergency center. This technology is particularly important for callers who do not know their location or cannot speak over a voice line so that rescue crews or law enforcement can locate them quickly.
