TriTech Software Systems Transitions to Agile Development Process to Increase Flexibility and Improve Quality throughout the Development Cycle
(San Diego, CA – June 17,2010) – TriTech Software Systems, a leading provider of public safety and EMS software, announces the successful transition to the Agile Development process for its VisiNet solutions. The net result is a continuous delivery of production ready software through a flexible, interactive process which includes engineering, quality assurance, documentation and product management.
According to TriTech President and CEO Chris Maloney “TriTech’s products are recognized for its configurability and adaptability to a client’s business process, and our transition to the Agile Development process reflects our need to be flexible and adaptable in our own internal processes. As TriTech continues to grow, our new process will make product delivery based on customer-driven enhancements feasible in a timely manner.”
A core part of TriTech’s standard support agreement includes providing regular software updates to our customers. Through Agile development, we can efficiently deliver more targeted and timely enhancements that leverage the input of our entire global base of public safety installations and incorporate emerging public safety trends.
“Three months into our new lifecycle, we are very pleased with the results,” says Angelina Hendricks, Vice President of Engineering for VisiNet Solutions. “Our team has been very effective developing new features and receiving immediate feedback from stakeholders in each review that allows us to adjust the product to align more closely to their vision quickly. The integration of QA engineers into our scrums has allowed the QA team to gain deeper knowledge of new features early and test them more effectively while allowing the development engineers to correct defects or missed requirements as part of the initial feature development."
Through the Agile development process, product requirements and solutions evolve through collaboration between cross-functional teams to allow for rapid delivery of high-quality software. Each team functions as a collective unit with members from engineering, quality assurance, documentation and product management to represent the needs of the client user base. Software is developed and reviewed in two week sprint intervals allowing the team to be flexible and responsive to changes in priority and functionality changes as well as handling coding problems and challenges dynamically. By aligning product management closely within the development process ensures that the user experience is central throughout the development process and changes can be made easily.
